Performance Demonstration Qualification (PDQ) Test Protocol for Phased Array
UT Qualification
The Test Protocol for the PDQ Program is presented to provide a description of the Performance Demonstration Examination Program for Advanced UT Examinations, i.e., Phased Array. Other methods of UT may be used to take the PDQ Examination, e.g., AUT, TOFD, etc. Download PDQ Test PDF >>
There will 3 primary Qualification Levels for Personnel
- Qualification Level PAUT Basic
- Qualification Level PAUT Advanced Weld Inspection
- Qualification Level PAUT Crack Sizing
- Other Qualification Levels may be added
Qualification Level PAUT Basic
Basic Phased Array Qualification (Blind Test) in accordance with a Procedure that is reviewed by DNDE. Elements include:
- Set up and Calibration
- Linearity verification
- Element verification
- Wedge Delay Calibration
- Sensitivity Calibration
- DAC or TCG calibration
- Scan a basic set of PDQ samples (CS Material)
- Pipe or Plate Samples
- Graded for Basic Detection and Recording Examination
- Takes place in one day
Qualification Level PAUT Advanced Weld Inspection
An Advanced Phased Array Qualification in accordance with a Procedure that is reviewed by DNDE. Elements include:
- The Advanced Qualification Program will be for piping and plate
- Same as basic above but add
- 1/2 inch and 1 inch CS Plate Samples
- 8 inch, 16 inch, and 24 inch diameter SS and CS Piping Samples
- Add TKY Joint
- Add a Vessel Nozzle Joint
- Add an AWS Joint
- Takes place over 2 to 3 days
- These would be component and maybe industry specific qualifications
Qualification Level PAUT Crack Sizing
An Advanced Phased Array Qualification for Crack Sizing in accordance with a Procedure that is reviewed by DNDE. Elements include:
- Size Cracks in CS plate samples
- Size Cracks in CS piping samples
- Size Cracks in SS piping samples
- Takes place in one day
- Use 10 % RMS for Pass Fail Criteria
